BOOKS
In addition to illustrating a great many
other people's books, I have also written or co-authored ten of my own.
Here are the ones currently in print - they are available direct from
the publishers, via Amazon or can be ordered from any good bookshop
(excellent bookshops would already have them in stock). The exception
to this is TAKE A HIKE, which is currently available direct from me.

The book your back would want you
to buy. THE BUSY BODY is written by Penny Ingham and Colin Shelbourn
and was published in 2003 by Summersdale.
It is a guide to stress-free posture for busy people. All the
hints, tips and excercises can be carried out in everyday life
and integrated into your office routine. The book is extensively
based on the Alexander Technique (Penny is a professional teacher
of the technique) and illustrated throughout with lively and helpful
cartoons (Colin is one of her pupils).
The book has an associated website
and has also been translated and reprinted into Brazilian and
Czech editions.

WATERSIDE WALKS IN THE LAKE DISTRICT
has been in print since 1992 and is one of the best-selling guides
to unusual, shorter walks in the Lakes. Each of the 28 walks is
based alongside, around or, in some cases, through water. The
routes range from short, 1 mile strolls to picturesque waterfalls,
to 10 mile circuits of the lakes. The book is written and illustrated
by Colin Shelbourn, with photographs by Bill Stainton.
The book is currently in its 3rd edition
and 4th printing. Originally published by Cassell, WATERSIDE WALKS
has been completely revised and updated and is now produced by
Sigma Press.

ROCKY RAMBLER'S WILD WALKS, by Iain
Peters and Colin Shelbourn, is the first Lake District walking
guide to put the children in charge. Ten graded routes encourage
the children in the family to lead the walk, helped along by Sid
Squirrel, Harriet Herdwick and a variety of colourful cartoon
characters (not forgetting Rocky and Rachel Rambler). Each walk
is presented as a board game, with the route threading its way
across a cartoon version of the landscape. Hints, tips, puzzles
and games keep the kids engaged.
The books has now sold over 14,000
copies and is published by Cicerone.
Buy the book, do the walks and visit the Rocky
Rambler website!

TAKE A HIKE is a collection
of cartoons from the great outdoors (the landscape, not
the magazine). When I originally began work on this book,
the prospect of finding 96 jokes about walking was a little
daunting. Then I realised how many toys, gimmicks and
gadgets had invaded the market. So if you know anyone
who spends more time looking at their GPS than the view,
who can't move without a trekking pole or who can bore
for England on the subject of breathable waterproofs,
this is the book you need.
TAKE A HIKE was originally
published by Cicerone and signed copies are now available
direct from me. Get
in touch to find out how.

Finally, two books of which I am very proud.
Both made it into paperback and sold well; Great Walk was in print for
13 years and sold over 120,000 copies. Unfortunately both are currently
out of print. The licences have reverted to me to so if you are a publisher
and would like to find out more about either title, get
in touch.
